Bilic backing England

on:Croatia coach Slaven Bilic believes England will pip Russia in the race for a place at Euro 2008.
England’s fate is out of their own hands after slipping to a 2-1 defeat to Guus Hiddink’s side in Moscow.
When asked whether Russia or England will qualify from Group E, Bilic told Sky Sports News: “I don’t know, I think England.
“You should leave him to work in peace. England are still in with a chance. It wouldn’t be a surprise for me if Israel stops Russia.
“Well for me, England are the better side, although I respect Russia at the end of the day as they are the only team that we haven’t scored against.”
Israel determined
Meanwhile, keeper Dudu Aouate insists Israel will be doing all they can to stop Russia in their next qualifier.
Should Russia drop points at the Ramat Gan Stadium on 17th November then England’s fate would be back in their own hands, although Aouate insists Israel are playing for themselves.
“The English fans can rest assured we’re going to give everything to win,” he told the Sun. “England can count on our 100 per cent commitment.
“I like England a lot, I like the Premier League – but we’re going to do this for ourselves. We want to win for our fans and country.
“It’s a question of national pride. If by winning we can help England, then great.”
