Ivan Rakitic: The Great New Talent

Ivan Rakitić (born March 10 , 1988 in Möhlin ) is a young Swiss – Croatian footballer who as of 2006 plays for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League . He plays as a midfielder.
Rakitić is signed with Basel until the 2008 season. He has previously competed with the Swiss under-17 national football team. He has until 2009 (when he turns 21) or sooner to decide whether to become eligible for the Swiss national team or the Croatian national team . Rakitić was part of Basel’s 2006 UEFA Cup run to the competition’s quarter-finals.
Ivan Rakitic says his heart still beats for Croatia. Hopefully he will make the right decision and make us proud. There is a good chance that he will join the Croatian squad because of the great success they have been having. His team mate Mladen Petric made the right decision, hopefully Ivan will too.
Rakitic is a great talent. He has been linked with Juventus, and Chelsea. Now the only question is, will he be dedicated to Croatian National team.
The Croatian public doesnt want a person to join the national team, if he has to think about. Playing for the croatian national team is not a job, but its an honor, and a religion. Its Croatian culture.

Yea he and petric get allong very well, i think he already made uo his decision to play for Croatia, but he will reveal it later tho…

rakitic is an extemely talented player i just hope he chooses to play for croatia..another very talented player that nobody is talking about is danijel pranjic..he plays for heerenveen in holland and is considered by many the best left winger in holland..ive watched him play a few times and he has great pace good technically and is a very good crosser..last year he had 7 goals with 15 assists..this year he has 2 goals so far with about 8 assists..he has been rumored to go to psv and feynoord..this kid should get a chance as he has been playing quite well for a year and half now..

I would love to see this kid play for croatia he looks like a very talented player who loves to play the sport.

your welcome:) since Petric play at Basel i’m following his club and i have also seen Rakitic play and trust me he is a great midfielder in my eyes bether than Niko and Luka togeter!!! so imagine if Rakitic joins Srna, Niko and Luka than our midfield will be one of the best in Europe!

i believe this is the truth and he will follow the footsteps of Petric because he’s 18 and he doesn’t know bether so he will look at what his teammate have done(Petric)
